Jabanggo_Grilled Fish

Grilled fish might sound a bit unfamiliar, right?

 

 

It almost feels like something people from the Viking era would eat.

Usually, we fry or steam fish and add some sauce. But in Korea, even though we're surrounded by the sea, some places are far from the coast. So, we often preserve fish with salt and then grill it.

This is what we call Korean-style grilled fish.

When I was young, my mom used to cook it at home.

But since grilling fish has a strong smell,

I started going to specialized grilled fish restaurants whenever I craved it.

Luckily, there's a really tasty grilled fish restaurant here in Dongducheon. It's called Jabanggo!

It’s located at the end of a quiet area in Anheung-dong, on top of a mountain!

The view is amazing, and you can see Soyosan Mountain and even the northern area of Jeong

It’s a bit hard to visit by public transport, so I recommend taking a taxi or driving.

■Parking

No need to worry about parking. The restaurant also operates a camping site, so the parking lot is really big.

 

■ Menu Highlights

You can order various grilled fish dishes like mackerel and pollock.

I recommend going with a group and sharing different types of grilled fish.

They also have pork dishes for kids, but the taste is just okay.

 

Since you’re here, let the kids try the grilled fish too.

The fish juices burst in your mouth, and the taste is light and clean—thumbs up!

 

 

■ Why You Should Visit

Jabanggo is not just about the food; the atmosphere is unique too.

One wall is decorated with stones, and it feels like you’re dining in the middle of a forest.

The breeze even feels cooler here. I also remember the service being really fast

and friendly, with a lot of waitstaff compared to the number of customers.

 

After your meal, there’s a bakery cafe just 20 meters away.

The cafe has an outdoor terrace with a fantastic view!

I heard there’s another Jabanggo branch in Goyup, Yangju. But if you want a bigger place with friendly service,

I recommend visiting the Dongducheon Jabanggo!
