열정도 고깃집

무언가 가게 이름부터가 비장하다. 함께 미국서 10년 가까이 지냈던 일본인 누나가족의 한국 방문

평소 feel대로 식당을 고르는 나에게 귀한 손님을 보이는 아무 식당에 모시고 갈 수 없다 판단하여  급하지만

깊이 식당 리서치를 하였다.

The restaurant's name, "Yeoljeongdo," sounds quite serious from the start. For my Japanese friend's visit to Korea, whom I've known for nearly 10 years, I decided I couldn't just take a guest from afar to any random place based on my usual feelings. So I quickly and thoroughly researched options.

 

누나의 코리안 푸드 넘버 1은 "삼겹살". 대한민국 수만은 삼겹살집 중 최고 중의 최고를 찾아야 하는 선택지 위에

명확한 초이스 스탠다드가 필요하였다.

My friend's number one Korean food is "samgyeopsal" (pork belly). Among the tens of thousands of samgyeopsal restaurants in Korea, I needed clear criteria to find the best of the best.

 

첫째, 누나의 숙소인 메리엇 근처일 것.
둘째, 프랜차이즈가 아닌 독립 식당일 것, but 그 본점일경우 It's ok
셋째, 기왕이면 퓨전 느낌보다 한국 전통 삼겹살을 맛볼 수 있는 장소일것.

First, it should be near her accommodation at the Marriott.
Second, it should be an independent restaurant, not a franchise, but the original location would be okay.
Third, preferably a place where we could taste traditional Korean samgyeopsal rather than a fusion style

 

서울 식당에 빠삭함이 없는 나로서 꽤나 긴 시간의 블로깅과 서칭을 통해 선택된 식당이 바로 이곳이었다.

As someone not very familiar with Seoul restaurants, I spent quite a long time blogging and searching before selecting this place.

 

식당 크기에 비해 꽤나 많은 접객원들에 음식을 주문하기 전부터 이들의 서비스 수준에 일단 만족! 음식을 주문할 때 간단한 일본어 소통이 되는 이들과 능숙하게 메뉴의 장점과 어울림 사이드를 추천하는 프로의식에 감탄을 받았다.

I was impressed by the high level of service from the numerous staff members, despite the restaurant's size. Their ability to communicate in basic Japanese and professionally recommend menu highlights and complementary sides was admirable

 

이미 이 지경까지 만족스러웠는데 음식이 이상하면 슬프다고 생각된다. 빈틈없이 나온 삼겹살은 가격대가 꽤나 있음에 그 양이 적어 보여 다소 실망스러웠으나 막상 불판 위에 올려져 노릇이 구워진 녀석을 맛보는 순간

기우였음을 느낄 수 있었다.

I was already satisfied to this extent, but I thought it would be sad if the food was strange. The flawlessly served samgyeopsal seemed a bit disappointing in quantity given its price, but once it was grilled to a golden brown on the grill, I realized my concerns were unfounded

 

보통의 삼겹살에 비해 거의 2.5배 이상의 두께를 느낌은 씹을 때마다 고소함과 터져 나오는 육즙에 "오이시~" 연발이었고, 다소 흔한 비빔라면까지 고급 냉면 느낌으로 바꿔주는 마법을 느낄 수 있었다.

The pork belly was about 2.5 times thicker than usual, resulting in a juicy, flavorful experience that had us exclaiming "Oishi~" (delicious in Japanese) with every bite. Even the common bibim ramen was transformed into something akin to a high-end cold noodle dish

 

특히 된장밥이 일품이었는데, 필시 사장님의 노하우가 가득 담긴 뚝배기임에 틀림이 없었다.

The doenjang (soybean paste) rice was exceptional, undoubtedly filled with the owner's expertise and served in a traditional earthenware pot

 

빌딩숲 한가운데 퇴근 후 지친 몸의 샐러리맨들의 아지트임이 분명한 열정도 고깃집. 거주지와 거리가 상당해 재방문 여부는 확답할 수 없으나 그 의지만은 1000%임의 아주 맛있는 고깃집이었다!

Yeoljeongdo is clearly a haven for tired office workers in the midst of the urban jungle. Although I can't guarantee a revisit due to the distance from my residence, my desire to return is 1000%! It was an incredibly delicious meat restaurant

 

아~ 또 먹고 싶다.

Ah~ I want to eat there again
