한국의 추석_K-Thanksgiving

추석이야. 미국의 추수감사절과 같은 한국 전통 명절이라고 말하고 싶다

Chuseok is a traditional Korean holiday that I want to compare to Thanksgiving in the United States.

 

여럿이 모여 대가족 생활하던 어렸을 적과 달리, 요즘은 혼자 사는 사람도 많아지고 가족도 아이 하나 있는 집이 대부분이니 추석이 와도 그냥 또 하나의 휴일로 느껴질분 유년의 한껏 부푼 왁자지껄함은 느낄 수 가 없다 

Unlike when we used to gather in large families during my childhood, now there are many people living alone, and most families have only one child. So even when Chuseok comes, it’s just another holiday without the bustling atmosphere of the past.

 

내가 변한 건지 시대가 변한 건지 잘 모르겠다

I’m not sure if I’ve changed or if the times have changed.

 

그래도 추석이면 각종 재료를 기름에 붙여 먹는 한국식 튀김 요리냄새에 지나가는 사람도 힐끔 고개를 돌리게 되는 건 각자의 행복한 추석 기억 떄문은 아닌가 싶다

Still, during Chuseok, even passersby turn their heads at the smell of Korean-style fried foods made with various ingredients, maybe because of the memories associated with that scent.

 

오늘은 추석 연휴의 마지막 날이다.

멀리 다른 나라에서 온 친구들은 고향의 향수가 많이 올 것 같다.

가고 싶어도 갈 수 없는 친구들에게 힘내라고, 화이팅이라고 마음을 전하고 싶다!

Today is the last day of the Chuseok holiday. Friends who have come from far-off countries might feel a strong sense of homesickness. To those who want to go home but can't, I want to send my heart's encouragement, saying "Hang in there" and "Fighting!"
